Khaled Aljaramani et Serge Teyssot-Gay se rencontrent à Damas, en 2002. Le dialogue oud oriental/guitare électrique est immédiat, créant une « interzone », point de rencontre de leurs cultures respectives.
Après cinq ans d’absence, de retour de leurs voyages respectifs à travers d’autres contrées musicales, Khaled Aljaramani et Serge Teyssot-Gay se retrouvent et s’offrent leurs expériences nouvelles.
Kan Ya Ma Kan, intitulé de leur dernier album, est la phrase d’ouverture des contes et légende dans le monde arabe, souvent traduit par « Il était une fois », mais dont la traduction littérale serait plutôt « Il était ou il n’était pas. »
Leur musique ensemble est aujourd’hui méditative et mélancolique, nostalgique et rêveuse, mais aussi sereine et réconfortante.
Serge Teyssot-Gay est un guitariste et compositeur français fondateur notamment des groupes Interzone, Zone Libre PolyUrbaine et Ligne de Front, parmi de nombreux groupes ou duos.

Interzone

Khaled AlJaramani and Serge Teyssot-Gay met in Damascus in 2002. The dialogue between the oriental oud and the electric guitar wasinstant, creating an ‘interzone’, a meeting point for their respective cultures.
After an absence of five years from Interzone, back from their separate travels through other musical lands, Khaled AlJaramani and Serge Teyssot-Gay meet up again and share their new experiences.
Kan Ya Ma Kan, their latest album, is the stock phrase to introduce fairy tales and folk tales in the Arab world, often translated by ‘Once Upon a Time’, but whose literal translation would rather be ‘There was, or there was not’.
Today their music together is meditative and melancholic, nostalgic and dreamy, but also serene and comforting.
Serge Teyssot-Gay is a French guitarist and composer, founder of Interzone, Zone Libre PolyUrbaine and Ligne de Front, among many groups and duos.
